Say no! Under the Employment Standards Act in Ontario, you are entitled to a regular pay period.
I remember the feeling of finishing a shift or a summer job, excited to spend my paycheck. I’d look into cool sales and bookmark a million tabs. Then, I’d wait… and wait… and wait… The sales would end and I would grow confused. Did they forget about me? Did I miss an important email? Am I being scammed?
I’d finally muster up the courage to reach out, but I was treated with frustration and told I was being “impatient.” They tried to make me feel guilty for asking where my pay was. What I didn’t know was that I was entitled to a regular pay period under the ESA.
